Bills Pacific magic by Hayden Peters

The Foundation crew and friends celebrated a five o' clock with Bill after many long days looking over the new grant applications. It was a long hard couple of days of work sifting through and studying the new applications. We had board meetings and trainings and more meetings and then finally we were done. The scene was perfect on that last day... high above the pacific ocean on a hill surrounded by the rugged northwest nature that Bill loved to paint many past grant recipients had gathered together. They mingled and talked and made connections as the sun began to set. Right at five everyone lifted their glass to Bill, to his memory, and to a life well lived. Mark Swank, the director, filled a glass for Bill and left it on the railing looking over the ocean. After the cheers had subsided and people began filtering inside I started rounding up the empty glasses. When I got to Bill's glass it was empty, and looking around at this wonderful and talented group of people gathered in his memory I smiled. That is exactly what Bill would have wanted. |
